The Missing Piece

On the idea that became ONA.
The Missing Piece

A few months have passed since I last wrote here.

For a while, it felt right to leave some space.

Sometimes I need to stop. Perhaps even take a small step backwards. To listen more carefully to myself and trust that, when the time is right, I will know what to do next.

During these past months, something didn’t feel quite complete.

I started my first creative journey with NANNA a few years ago, and although the collection felt complete in many ways, I still had a feeling that something was missing.

I didn’t know what it was.

And then, suddenly, I did.

I wanted to create something that could complement NANNA. Something that could live naturally alongside the different versions of the bag. Something that could complete rather than compete. Something versatile enough to be worn in many different ways and for many different occasions, just as NANNA was always intended to be.

A scarf. A silk scarf.

A single-coloured silk scarf in an elongated triangular shape.

The idea itself was remarkably simple. But perhaps simplicity is exactly what gives something room to become personal.

I imagined it loosely around the neck. Draped over the shoulders. Tied around the head or waist. Worn as a top. Tied to a bag.

The same piece, changing with the woman wearing it.

I wanted it to be something that could bring pleasure without demanding attention. Something you reach for again and again until, perhaps, it becomes part of how people recognise you. A personal signature.

Silk is one of the most beautiful natural materials I know. Light, fluid and incredibly expressive. It changes with movement and catches the light differently every time you wear it.

Once I could see the scarf in my mind, I realised something else.

This wasn’t simply something I wanted to design for LEGNER.

It was something I had been looking for myself.

An uncomplicated silk scarf with the proportions and versatility I wanted, in colours I could live with and wear again and again.

That was the moment ONA was conceived.

Not born yet.

There were still proportions to work through. Silk to find. Colours to choose. Samples to make. Edges to perfect. And, as I have learned by now, plenty of those small decisions that no one will ever see.

It took time.

But ONA is here now.

Finished, and waiting patiently to be introduced to the world.

And perhaps that is why it feels like the right moment for me to return here too.

The first LEGNER collection has found the piece I felt was missing.

Designed to complete, never compete.
